Viewing is at our auction room at 10-12 Cotswold Business Village, London Road, Moreton-in-Marsh (GL56 0JQ). Details can be found in our sales catalogue. Please call 01608 695695 or email enquiries@kinghamsauctioneers.com to arrange.
Condition reports
The relevant specialist sales department will be pleased to give condition reports on any lot by email only. Buyers are given ample opportunity to view lots before any sale; when bidding, buyers acknowledge that they are fully satisfied as to the description and condition of the lot. All weights and measures given in the catalogue should be regarded as approximate. Requests within 24 hours of the auction starting cannot be guaranteed a response, and condition reports will not be provided on the day of or during the auction.
The absence of a condition report does not mean that a lot is in perfect condition. Condition reports are provided as a goodwill gesture, are the opinion of our specialists and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated. We strongly advise you to examine items in person before you bid. Condition reports are not available for the Cotswold Interiors & Collectables sale; all items are sold as seen.
Registration
All first-time buyers need to register with us, providing two forms of identification: a passport or photographic driving licence, and a utility bill or document showing your name and address. You can register in person, by calling 01608 695695 or by emailing enquiries@kinghamsauctioneers.com. By registering to bid you are agreeing to our terms and conditions.
Bidding in the auction house
You need to register with us before bidding in the auction house; a paddle number is issued on registration.
Commission bidding
If you are unable to attend the sale you can leave a commission bid, executed on your behalf by the auctioneer, who will purchase the lot as cheaply as possible bearing in mind any reserve and other bids. Bids must be made at least one hour before the sale starts, but we advise making them at the earliest opportunity. We cannot accept commission bids once the auction has started. This service is free.
Telephone bidding
It is usually possible to bid on the telephone by prior arrangement with the office, subject to the availability of staff. Lines must be booked 24 hours before the auction, ID is required, and you must be willing to bid at least the low estimate for the item. Telephone bids are not accepted for the Cotswold Interiors & Collectables auction.
Live online bidding
Live online bidding is available for most of our auctions, including on our own website at no charge. Please register when the auction is live.
Buyer’s premium
- 26% + VAT on the first £500,000 of the hammer price
- 18% + VAT on the excess of £500,001 and up to £1,000,000
- 15% + VAT on the excess of £1,000,001
Lot symbols
- * — subject to VAT on the hammer price.
- ** — temporarily imported from outside the EU; VAT at 5% on the hammer price and the buyer’s premium.
- λ — may be subject to CITES regulations when exported.
- † — potentially subject to Artist’s Resale Right (Droit de Suite): 4% up to €50,000; 3% €50,000.01–200,000; 1% €200,000.01–350,000; 0.5% €350,000.01–500,000; 0.25% in excess of €500,000, up to a maximum levy of €12,500. The royalty does not apply to lots selling below the sterling equivalent of €1,000.

Payment
Payment is due immediately after the auction in pounds sterling. First-time buyers’ funds must clear before purchases can be released. We accept cash up to £9,000 (subject to money laundering regulations), debit cards (a maximum of £1,000 by phone) and bank transfer; a fee of £15 is added for international bank payments. We do not accept credit card or PayPal payments — where a payment link has to be provided, a 5% fee of the total invoice value will be charged.
